Gewurztraminer

Available in 750 ml and 375 ml bottles. Vintage 2015

Vine type : Gewurztraminer

Wine type : Very fruity, well-framed, full-bodied white wine with a strong bouquet reminding of tropical fruit (especially litchees) some times with spicy peppery notes and extreme elegance.

Vineyard : The vineyard is located on the Vosges Piémont (foothills of the Vosges). Southeast exposure, pure vine plant.

Harvesting : wine-making and ageing : Manual harvest, then grape selection and sorting-out, immediate pressing, must clarification and settling, then fermentation of the clear juice. Rigorous control of the fermentation and maturation in oak tuns. Bottling after a few months when wines are clear and ready.

How to serve it : Serve Gewurztraminer cool but not cold, at circa 10° C temperature.

How to keep it : This wine may be kept 5 to 6 years or longer in a cool cellar at a constant temperature (10° to 14° C). Store the bottles flat, with the cork in contact with the wine in order to avoid drying-out. This is the best-ageing of Alsace wines. It keeps pleasant surprises and great satisfaction in store for the patient oenologist and connoisseur.

What to drink it with : Gewurztraminer is an excellent aperitif that we especially recommend. It goes particularly well with a sophisticated entree like foie gras. This wine’s body and elegance is admirably suited with strong cheeses such as Munster, Roquefort, Cheddar and Stilton. Gewurztraminer is incomparable with exotic cuisine ; this is one of the rare wines able to converse with hot spicy dishes. Finally, this elegant and mellow wine is a must with pastries and sweets.

Cuvee du Gentilhomme Wantz

Available in 750 ml and 375ml bottles. Vintage 2016

Vine type: Assembly of several vines

Wine type:  Dry, very fruity, smooth and elegant white wine, stemming from the harmonious mix of several Alsatian vines among which : Pinot Blanc that gives it its delicacy and mildness, Muscat for its taste of fresh grapes and its pleasant fragrances, and Gewurztraminer which adds to the fruitiness, bouquet and richness of the whole.

History: The name « Cuvée du Gentilhomme » refers to a very old tradition according to which, when a nobleman or rich bourgeois went to a wine bar or inn, he was served a better wine worthy of his status. The innkeeper usually  kept a small barrel of wine for these occasions. It is in memory of these wise innkeepers, who knew how to find the best for their guests, that Charles Wantz decided to reinstate this very honourable tradition in creating the « Cuvée du Gentilhomme ».

Vineyard: The vineyard is located on the Vosges Piémont (foothills of the Vosges), principally on a marly limestone soil.

Harvesting, wine-making and ageing: Manual harvest, then grape selection and sorting-out, immediate pressing, must clarification and settling, then fermentation of the clear juice. Rigorous control of the fermentation and maturation in non-oxidizing tuns. Bottling after a few months when wines are clear and ready.

How to serve it: Serve this wine cool but not cold, at circa 12° C temperature.

How to keep it: This wine should be consumed preferably within 2 to 3 years, but it can improve and be kept longer, stored in a cool cellar at a constant temperature (10° to 14° C).
Store the bottles flat, with the cork in contact with the wine in order to avoid drying-out.

What to drink it with : An easy to drink wine served on many occasions from aperitif through cheese or simply to be enjoyed among friends in merry gettogethers and joyful ambiance.
